DHAKA, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today showed actor Siddiqur Rahman Siddique arrested in a case lodged over the killing of furniture store employee Pervej Bepari during the July Mass Uprising.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain passed the order as police produced Siddique before the court and pleaded to show him arrested in the case. He was later sent back to jail.

On April 29, 2025, a mob of 10 to 15 people apprehended and assaulted Siddique while he was walking through the city's Bailey Road area and later handed him over to police.

According to case documents, Pervej Bepari, 23, took part in an anti-discrimination student movement rally in front of Subastu Tower under Gulshan Police Station on July 19, 2024. The rally came under attack after Jumma prayers, leaving Pervej shot and critically injured. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead.

Later, Pervej's father Md Sabuj filed the case, naming Siddique as the 223rd accused.
