Two killed in road accident in Thakurgaon

THAKURGAON, June 24, 2025 (BSS) - A man and his daughter were killed in a road accident on the Thakurgaon-Panchagarh highway in the Bhulli area of the district this morning.

The deceased were identified as Ashraful Islam (52), a CNG-run three-wheeler driver from Khulishakurdi Post Office Para under Bhulli police station, and his daughter Rubaiya Khatun (15), a ninth-grade student of Boda Pilot Girls High School.

Police and local sources said a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of VIP Automobiles (Dhaka Metro-B 14-8152), heading towards Panchagarh, hit their three-wheeler from behind near Khoshbazar Madrasa area, leaving Ashraful dead on the spot. Rubaiya was critically injured and taken to Thakurgaon General Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

The victims were heading to Boda, where the father was dropping his daughter at school.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhulli Police Station Saiful Islam said police reached the scene immediately after receiving the information. He said the bus has been seized but its driver and helper managed to flee. Efforts are underway to arrest them. Boda Highway Police will take legal action in this regard.
