Two to die, another gets life term in Chandpur murder case

CHANDPUR, June 24, 2025 (BSS) - The court here today sentenced two people to death and another one to life term imprisonment for killing a madrasha student in Kachua upazila of the district in 2015. 

Judge of Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-2 Syed Tafazzal Hossain Hiru pronounced the verdict this afternoon.

The court also fined death-row convicts Taka one lakh each and life-term convict Taka 50,000.

The death-row convicts are Shamim Hossain, 28, son of Imam Hossain, a resident of Kandirpar and Sohag Hossain, 28, son of Nuruddin of para gaon village of the upazila and life-term convict Md. Rabbi Hossain, 28, son of Abul Basar of Faraji Bari-Kandirpar village of the same upazila.

According to prosecution, the convicts killed madrasha student Milon Hossain, 12, son of Tajul Islam, a resident of Kandirpar village of the upazila, over a disputed land at Kandirpar village on June 29, 2015.

Police recovered the body of Milon from a crop field on July 2, 2015.
Milon's elder brother Ripon Hossain filed a murder case with Kachua Police Station on the same day.

Later, police arrested three accused in this connection. 
    
The investigating officer of the case, the then Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kachua Police Station Md. Wazed Ali submitted the charge sheet to the court on January 8, 2016.

The judge after examining 22 witnesses and evidence found them guilty and handed down the punishment, Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Kamal Uddin Ahmed said.
