Housewife killed in wild elephant attack in Cox's Bazar

COX'S BAZAR, June 24, 2025 (BSS) - A housewife was killed after being 
attacked by a wild elephant in Dakshin Chhairakhali area under Chakaria 
upazila of district last night.

The deceased was identified as Ismat Ara, 40, wife of M Alamgir, a resident 
of the same area.

A wild elephant suddenly attacked and trampled her entering their house 
around 11.30 pm. She died on the spot, said Mehraj Uddin, Phansiakhali Range 
Officer of the Cox's Bazar North Forest Department.

The family had been living in the forest area for a long time, he said.

Chakaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Atiqur Rahman visited the 
scene this morning and gave Taka 10,000, two blankets and emergency food 
items.
