Forest Department launches tree plantation on recovered land in Tangail

TANGAIL, June 24, 2025 (BSS) - The Forest Department today launched a tree plantation program on 13 acres of recovered land in Tangail district.

Sakhipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Roni inaugurated the program at 11 am in the Boga Protima area of Baheratali Union.

Baheratali Range Officer Md. Imran Hossain and Officer-in-Charge of Sakhipur Police Station Mohammad Abul Kalam Bhuiyan were present at the event, among others.

According to the Forest Department, approximately 13 acres of reserved forest land under the MM Chala Beat of Baheratali Range in Sakhipur were recovered from illegal occupiers during a joint operation on May 31.

As part of the forestation program, the Forest Department has started planting various fruit-bearing, timber, and medicinal saplings on the recovered land with the help of around 200 workers.

Sakhipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Roni said, "A total of 11,000 saplings of various forest and fruit trees will be planted on the 13 acres of recovered land."
