Couple killed as train runs over motorcycle in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, June 30, 2025 (BSS) - A couple riding a motorcycle were killed after being hit by a train in Narsingdi today (Monday).

The tragic incident occurred at around 3:30 pm on Monday at the unguarded railway crossing in the Dagarhia area of Chinishpur Union under Narsingdi Sadar upazila.

Md. Zahirul Islam, in-charge of the Narsingdi Railway Police Outpost, confirmed the information. 

The deceased have been identified as Aminul Islam Joj Mia (48), a returnee from abroad, and his wife Aklima Begum (45), residents of Gojaria village in Lebutola Union under Monohardi upazila.

According to police and locals, the couple had gone to Sahepratab area in the Sadar upazila to see their college-going son. While returning home by their motorcycle, they were crossing the unguarded railway line at Dagarhia area. 

At one stage, they were run over by the Chattala Express, which was heading to Chattogram from Dhaka. The motorcycle was completely crushed, and both were killed on the spot.

Later, their son and relatives arrived at the scene and identified the bodies. Narsingdi Railway Police recovered the bodies following the incident.

Md. Zahirul Islam, in-charge of the Railway Police Outpost, said that “We recovered the bodies and brought them to the police outpost. The bodies will be handed over to the family after autopsy.”
