Indian sarees worth Tk 48 lakh seized at Cumilla border

CUMILLA, July 7, 2025 (BSS): Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian sarees worth approximately Taka 48 lakh during a drive along the Cumilla border early today.

A special patrol team of the 10 BGB Battalion conducted the operation in the Chanpur area under Kotokbazar Post, around five kilometres inside Bangladesh territory from the zero line, said a press release issued by BGB.

The patrol team recovered 455 pieces of various types of Indian sarees and one CNG-run auto-rickshaw used in transporting the smuggled items, the release added.

Lieutenant Colonel Mir Ali Ejaz, Commanding Officer of the 10 BGB Battalion, confirmed the seizure.

The confiscated goods will be handed over to the customs authorities, it said.
