Three held with 49-kg hemp in Tangail

TANGAIL, Aug 19, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive 
arrested three people with 49 kilograms of hemp from Kalihati upazila of the 
district early this morning.

The arrested were Aminul, 35, Babu, 36, and Mojahid, 25.

On a tip-off, a team of the RAB-14 took position in Elenga and intercepted a 
cotton-laden mini truck around 3.30 am and recovered the hemp worth about 
Taka 14.70 lakh after searching the truck and arrested the trio, said Kawsar 
Badhon, commander of the RAB-14 Tangail Camp, at a press conference this 
afternoon. 

Among them, Aminul is a truck driver, Babu is a helper of the truck and 
Mojahid is a drug dealer. 

They were coming from Habiganj with the contraband ganja in a cotton-laden 
mini truck towards Jamuna Bridge via Gazipur. 

The arrested persons have been handed over to Kalihati Police Station, he 
added.
