Fugitive accused in murder case held in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, Aug 19, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested one of the fugitive accused in the controversial UP member murder case at Hakimpur upazila of the district from Magura Sadar upazila today.

Being informed, a team of the RAB-13 and RAB-6 jointly conducted a raid in Notun Bazar area of Magura Sadar upazila and arrested Mamunur Rashid, 50, one of the fugitive accused in the murder case, said Biplob Kumar Goswami, senior assistant director of Public Relations Department of Dinajpur RAB-13 Camp. 

"Arrested Mamunur is the son of Moyez Uddin Mondal of Baona village in Hakimpur upazila. He was handed over to Hakimpur Police Station at 3:30 pm today," he added.

On July 8 at 9 am, the arrested accused Mamunur Rashid along with his accomplices took UP member Harunur Rashid to the banks of the Tulshiganga river in Hakimpur upazila and killed him.

Later, Abdul Majid, father of the deceased, filed a murder case with Hakimpur Police Station in this connection.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hakimpur Police Station Md. Nazmul Haque said the arrested accused is being interrogated. He will be produced before the court tomorrow, he added.
