DHAKA, Aug 19, 2025 (BSS) – A total of 658 nomination papers have been sold against 28 posts of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election while 1,427 nomination papers have been sold in 18 halls for Hall Union elections.

The period for collecting nomination papers for DUCSU and hall union elections ended today. On the last day today, 93 nomination papers were sold for DUCSU and 201 for Hall Union, said a press release.

Candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers by 5 pm tomorrow (August 20).

According to the hall-wise nomination paper collection statistics, 112 nomination papers have been sold for Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall and 33 for Bangladesh-Kuwait Friendship Hall. 

Besides, 73 nomination papers were sold in Salimullah Muslim Hall, 74 in Jagannath Hall, 86 in Fazlul Haq Muslim Hall, 100 in Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haq Hall, 53 in Ruqayyah Hall, 95 in Surya Sen Hall, 80 in Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall, 42 in Shamsunnahar Hall, 106 in Kabi Jasimuddin Hall, 98 in Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, 79 in Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, 39 in Sheikh Fazilatunnesha Mujib Hall, 91 in Amar Ekushey Hall, 88 in Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall, 96 in Bijoy Ekattar Hall and 82 in Sir A. F Rahman Hall.

According to the decision of the returning officers, a candidate can collect and submit multiple nomination papers. 

However, a candidate can only vote for one post. In that case, the nominations for the remaining posts will have to be withdrawn while keeping one post. If not withdrawn, all the nomination papers will be considered cancelled.

Although yesterday, August 18, 2025, was the last day for distribution of nomination papers, a large number of students thronged to collect their nomination papers. 

As a result, students were not able to collect their nomination papers from some halls and central offices within the stipulated time. 

In this situation, in order to ensure equal and uplifted opportunities for all to exercise their democratic rights, the returning officers decided to extend the time for distribution and submission of nomination papers by one day and make it 5 pm on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 and 5 pm on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 respectively.
