BGB seizes drugs, current nets in Kushtia

DHAKA, Aug 19, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized drugs and illegal current nets worth Taka 30.90 lakh last night.

Acting on a tip-off, Udaynagar BOP (Border Outpost) under BGB-47 carried out the operation on the Padma River adjacent to the border last night, BGB-47 Commander Lt Col Md Mahbub Murshed Rahman told BSS today.

During the drive, the operational team seized 590 kg of illegal current nets, 150 grams of heroin, 3.8 kg of cannabis, and 35 yaba tablets.

The drugs and smuggled items were stored for destruction under regulations, the BGB commander added.

Lt Col Md Mahbub Murshed Rahman said the BGB has been conducting continuous anti-drug and anti-smuggling operations in the border area, seizing smuggled goods and recovering weapons, while also assisting the district administration in maintaining law and order.
