Fake statements being circulated in name of Nazrul Islam Khan: Factwatch

DHAKA, Aug 19, 2025 (BSS) - FactWatch, a Bangladesh-based independent fact-checking organization, has identified a photocard circulating in social media claiming that BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan has asked BNP workers to exercise restraint regarding Dhanmondi 32 residence which is actually fake and misleading statements.

FactWatch investigation team mentioned that a sensitive comment by BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan has gone viral on social media. 

In this statement, he has called upon BNP workers to exercise restraint regarding Dhanmondi 32 (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's residence). 

In this statement, he expressed his fear that the responsibility of demolishing this house in the future will fall on BNP.

FactWatch team indentified that this statement circulating in the name of Nazrul Islam Khan is fake. This fake statement is being circulated using a photocard of a TV channel called 'DBC News'. 

Meanwhile, DBC News has said that they have not published any such photocard. No such statement by Nazrul Islam Khan has been found from any other sources.
