Dhaka, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - BanglaFact, the fact-check, media research and
analysis team of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), has detected
misinformation involving a CCTV footage of a robbery that actually took place
in India but was falsely circulated online as a crime incident in Bangladesh.

According to BanglaFact, the video that went viral claiming to show a
daylight robbery in the capital city is not from Bangladesh but from India.

The investigation team of BanglaFact reported that the footage shows an armed
robbery by three masked men at a jewelry shop in the Bhargava Camp area of
Jalandhar in Punjab, India.

The fact-checking organisations have found evidence that, since last year,
misinformation and fake news linking Bangladesh, the interim government, and
political groups involved in the 2024 movement are being spread from some
Indian media and social platforms along with certain local Facebook accounts.

BanglaFact has identified hundreds of false and misleading contents
circulating online. The platform continues its efforts to counter rumors,
misinformation, and disinformation in Bangladesh, ensuring that the public
receives accurate and verified information.
