13 banned AL men among 46 arrested in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, July 7, 2025 (BSS) - The district police in a special drive arrested 46 people including 13 leaders and activists of banned Awami League (AL) from different areas of the district during the last 24 hours.

Police sources said among the arrestees, 13 AL leaders and activists were accused in different cases relating to the last year’s July mass uprising and they were shown arrested in those cases. Of the rest 33, 17 were warrantees and 16 were accused in various cases, police added.

Inspector of Dinajpur Sadar Court Md Aminul Islam said all the arrested people were produced before the senior judicial magistrate court from where the court ordered to send them to jail.

The arrested AL leaders and activists of Bochaganj upazila are Md Aftab Uddin, President of Chhatail union AL, Md Rezaul Islam Reza, member of Setabganj Poura AL, Md Lition Parvez, general secretary of Murshidhat Union AL, Md Tozamul Haque, president of Nafanagar union Juba League, Md Shahjahan Ali, general secretary of Nafanagar Union AL and Faruk Hossain, vice president of Ranogaon union Juba League.

Police also arrested three other leaders from Birampur upazila during the same time. They are Md Abdul Malek Mondal, Chairman and president of Dior union AL, its vice president and joint secretary Kamruzzaman and Rubel Hossain.   

Meanwhile, the Birol thana has arrested three AL leaders from different parts of the upazila during the same period. They are Sobahan Ali, president of Bijora union AL, Rezaul Islam Reza, convener of Birol Poura Juba League and Papelur Rahman Pavel, president of banned Chhatra League Azimpur union of the upazila. 

Besides, Kotwali thana police arrested AL leader Ranjit Saha from sadar upazila.
