Tree fair begins in Khulna

KHULNA, July 7, 2025 (BSS) - The divisional tree plantation campaign and tree fair was inaugurated in Khulna this afternoon near the tennis ground of the Circuit House premises. 

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarker inaugurated the event as the chief guest.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Divisional Commissioner said that a green, vibrant, and sustainable Bangladesh is only possible through a green revolution. To achieve success in this revolution, planting trees is essential, he added. 

He also said that the government is working to protect the environment and conserve biodiversity by afforesting the government lands. 

Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam presided over the event while Additional Police Commissioner Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan, Conservator of Forests Imran Ahmed, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime & Ops) Anisuzzaman, and Nursery Owners’ Association President Badrul Alam Royal, addressed the event as special guests.

Divisional Forest Officer of the Sundarbans West Forest Division, A. Z. M. Hasanur Rahman, delivered the welcome speech.

Teachers, students from various educational institutions, and officials from different departments were also present at the event.

A total of 61 stalls are set up at the fair, which will continue for three weeks.
