Father, son killed in Sirajganj road crash

SIRAJGANJ, July 8, 2025 (BSS) - An elderly man and his son were killed and another son was injured in a road accident in front of Nur Jahan Hotel in Chariya Madhyapara area under Salanga Police Station of the district today.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Mannan Khandaker, 70, and his son Jewel Khandaker, 35, resident of Purnabera village of Salanga Police Station.

The accident took place on the Hatikumrul-Banpara highway early this morning when a truck hit an auto rickshaw, leaving its two passengers dead on the spot and injured another, said Abdur Rouf, Officer-in Charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station.

Locals rescued the injured, Russell Khandaker, eldest son of the deceased, and sent him to a local hospital.

Abdul Mannan was on his way to Shaheed M. Mansur Ali Medical College Hospital in Sirajganj with his two sons for treatment when the accident occurred.

A case was filed in this connection.
