NAOGAON, July 8, 2025 (BSS) - A union parishad (UP) member died of electrocution at Jamilkuri village under Porsha upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Emdadul Haque Emani, 45, a member of Ward No-4 of Mashidpur Union Parishad in the upazila and son of late Kina Sarkar of Soriala village of the upazila.

Emani came in contact with an electric wire while he was starting an irrigation pump around 9 am near his house. He died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Porsha Police Station Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the matter.
