Seven held with arms, ammo in Khulna

KHULNA, July 8, 2025 (BSS) - Joint forces in separate drives in the city and district today arrested seven persons with arms and ammunition.

In Khulna city, the joint forces, including the Army and Navy, conducted a joint operation in the Sadar Thana area early today and arrested four persons, including the notorious gang leader Shakil Sheikh of the "Shakil Group," said Howlader Sanwar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Sadar Police Station.

The arrested individuals are Shakil Sheikh, 41, chief of the gang; Shahidul Islam Khokon, 34; Md. Shakil, 23 - both associates of Shakil; and Yasin Arafat, 27, a member of Shakil's rival "Ashik Group."

They also seized one 7.65 mm pistol with a magazine, one pipe gun, five rounds of bullets, one dummy revolver, one stun gun, 180 pieces of yaba tablets, and sharp weapons from their possession.

All the detainees have been accused in multiple criminal cases filed against them at various police stations under the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP).
In another joint raid conducted by the Army and Paikgacha Thana Police, three individuals were arrested early today (Tuesday) in Mathbati village under Godaipur Union of Paikgacha Upazila, said Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Edrisur Rahman.

The arrestees are Rasamay Biswas, 55; Pritam Biswas, 30; and Debbrata Biswas, 38.

The joint forces also seized one pipe gun, five cocktails, 150 grams of gunpowder, materials used for making explosives, drug paraphernalia, three mobile phones, and three national ID cards from their possession.
