RAJSHAHI, July 16, 2025 (BSS)- Various government and non-government organizations and educational institutions observed the July Martyrs Day- 2025 with due solemnity here today.
To mark the day, the district administration held a memorial meeting and doa mahfil at its conference hall paying rich tribute to the martyrs.
With Deputy Commissioner Afia Akhter in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Commissioner of Rajshahi division Khondoker Azim Ahmed, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Muhammad Abu Sufiyan and Superintendent of Police Farzana Islam.
Family members of the martyrs and injured persons injured in July movement were present at the meeting and took part in its discussion in choked voices.
Commissioner Azim Ahmed expressed deep respects and sympathy to the family members of the martyrs and injured ones.
Terming the July movement as an important milestone of Bangladesh's democratic history, he said supreme sacrifice of the July martyrs has become the glorious chapter of the history.
In his remarks, RMP Commissioner Abu Sufiyan said the July martyrs sacrificed their lives for realising democratic rights. "We will remember them with deep respect," he added.
He also said RMP will always remain proactive towards ensuring security to the family members of the martyrs.
Later, a doa Mahfil was held seeking divine blessings for the departed souls of the martyrs and expressed sympathy to members of the bereaved families.
Rajshahi Medical University also observed the day in a befitting manner today.
