Seminar on marginal professional groups held in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, July 16, 2025 (BSS) - A day-long seminar on the livelihood development of marginal professional groups was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner here today.

The District Social Service Department (DSSD), under the "Livelihood Development of Marginal Professional Groups in Bangladesh (Phase-2)" project, organised the seminar.

Deputy Commissioner Hasina Begum attended the seminar as the chief guest, while Md Golam Mostafa, Director of Social Services Department (SSD), Mymensingh Division, presided over the event.

Aminul Islam, Deputy Director of SSD, Sherpur district, presented the keynote paper, while Assistant Director Abu Ilias Mollick conducted the seminar.

Additional Superintendent of Police Yahiya Al Mamun, Deputy Director of DSSD Rokon Ul Islam, and Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Zakia Sultana, among others, spoke on the occasion.

During the seminar, the SSD authority disclosed that 5.7 million people belonging to marginal professional groups across the country have been identified through a nationwide survey. Under the project, the SSD has been providing skill development training and financial assistance to integrate these underprivileged groups into mainstream development in phases.

A total of 50 participants from various government and non-government organisations, along with beneficiaries, took part in the seminar.
