State mourning on 'July Martyrs' Day' observed in Rangamati

RANGAMATI, July 16, 2025 (BSS) - The district observed a day of state 
mourning today to commemorate July Martyrs' Day like elsewhere across the 
country.

To mark the day, a discussion was held at the Deputy Commissioner's 
conference room here this morning.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habib Ullah presided over the meeting.

District Superintendent of Police Dr. SM Farhad Hossain, Deputy Director of 
Local Government Department and Municipality Administrator Md. Mobarak 
Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Ruhul Amin, 
Additional District Magistrate Pathan Md. Saifuzzaman, Rangamati Civil 
Surgeon Dr. Nuen Khisa, District BNP General Secretary Ed. Mamunur Rashid 
Mamun, District Jamaat Ameer Professor Abdul Alim were present, among others, 
at the discussion meeting.

A video clip related to the July uprising was shown before the discussion 
meeting.

Earlier, the government officially recognized July 16 as the "July Martyrs' 
Day" as at least six people were killed on this day last year during student-
people mass uprising.
