State mourning on 'July Martyrs' Day' observed in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, July 16, 2025 (BSS) - The district administration today observed mourning day here like other parts of the country on the occasion of 'July Martyrs' Day, also known as 'July Uprising Day'.

To commemorate the day, a discussion meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner conference room here with Deputy Commissioner Mostaq Ahmed in the chair.

He said, "The sacrifice of the July Martyrs is an inspiration for us. We can build a society of equality, justice and non-discrimination with their 
ideals." 

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bishnupada Pal, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Mukit Hasan Khan, District Jamaat Ameer Vice-principal Shahidul Islam Mukul, Deputy Director of the District Agricultural Extension Department Md. Saiful Islam, District Information Officer Jaharul Islam Tutul, Deputy Director of the District Social Service Office Santosh Kumar Nath, District Primary Education Officer Hosne Yasmin Karimi, former president of the Satkhira Press Club Momtaz Ahmed Bapi, Satkhira District Convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Arafat Hossain, among others, were present on the occasion.

Mourning Day is being observed throughout the country today to mark 'July Martyrs' Day'. It commemorates those who died during the student-led protests in July last year.
