Tree saplings distributed among 3,500 students in Narail

NARAIL, July 16, 2025 (BSS) - Saplings of medicinal and fruit trees were distributed among 3,500 students in Sadar upazila here today.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said, free saplings were distributed among 3,500 students from 6th to 12th grade of various educational institutions in Sadar upazila under the incentive programme for the Kharif 2025-2026 season to increase the cultivation and production of medicinal and fruit trees. 

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sharmin Akhter Jahan distributed the saplings among the students as chief guest at a function held at Mulia Secondary School premises of the upazila this morning.

Deputy Director of DAE Md. Jashim Uddin presided over the function. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Md. Ahsan Mahmud Russell, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sanchita Biswas, upazila agriculture officer Md. Rokonuzzaman and upazila secondary education officer Md. Anwar Hossain were present as special guests.

Agriculture officer Md. Rokonuzzaman said a student was given four types of tree saplings. The saplings were distributed free of cost to raise awareness among the students to protect balance of environment by planting trees. This will encourage the students to plant more trees on their own initiative in future.
