DINAJPUR, July 20, 2025 (BSS) - A man was killed and six others of a family were injured in a road accident in the district town this noon.

The deceased was identified as Jahidul Islam, 30, son of Chan Mia of Debipur village under Nijpara union of Birganj upazila of the district.

The accident took place in front of Nashipur Cold Storage on the Dinajpur-Dashamile highway when a covered van hit an easy bike from the opposite direction, leaving seven easy bike passengers critically injured, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Rezaul Karim of the Dashmile Highway Police.

The injured were taken to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital where Jahidul succumbed to his injuries.

"The accident occurred when seven people of a family were returning home on an easy bike after visiting their sick uncle at the Islamic Hospital in the district town," the SI added.
