MANIKGANJ, Aug 1, 2025 ( BSS) - Police arrested an Awami League couple from their residence in the Manikganj Bazaar area early today.

The arrestees are Shirin Aktar, 37, a leader of the Mohila Awami League, and her husband Shafiqul Islam, 48, a former leader of Chhatra League and Jubo League.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manikganj Sadar Police Station SM Aman Ullah said they were detained from their residence around 12:30 am.

"They will be produced before the court for the next course of legal action," the OC added.
