KHULNA, Aug 11, 2025 (BSS) - A listed criminal was arrested with three machetes in front of the Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate Court in the city today.

The arrestee was identified as Manik Howlader, son of Modasser Howlader, a resident of the Hasanbagh area of Chhoto Boyra under Sonadanga police station. He is an accomplice of Babu alias "Grenade Babu," a top criminal in the locality.

Court sources said when several youths were restraining Manik around 11:45 am in front of Metropolitan Magistrate Courts 1, 2, and 3, police immediately took him into custody.

On information, members of the army arrived at the court premises and also took Manik into their custody. Later, the army team recovered three sharp machetes from the backpack he was carrying.

Manik was reportedly accompanied by several other criminals, but his accomplices managed to escape due to the army's swift action. Although he sought refuge on the court premises, he failed.

Following the arrest, security around the court premises was reinforced, the OC added.
