PABNA, Aug 14, 2025 (BSS) - Two workers died after inhaling toxic gas from a septic tank at a house at Dakshinpara village under Bera upazila of the district today.

The deceased were Sajibul Islam, 25, son of Abul Kalam and Mostaqin Hossain, 30, son of Abdul Gafur, residents of Hatigara area in Bera municipality.

"Two construction workers died after being trapped in a septic tank while trying to open the shutter," Bera Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Oliur Rahman said.

The accident occurred when workers were opening the bamboo mould of the septic tank used during the construction of the roof and four workers fell unconscious.

After hearing their screams, local people rushed in and took them to Bera Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared two of them dead.

Later, Rabiul Islam and Samrat Sheikh were taken to Pabna General Hospital.
