Rangamati municipality launches tree plantation campaign

RANGAMATI, Aug 14, 2025 (BSS) - Rangamati Municipality launched a tree 
plantation campaign to plant 1,000 saplings of fruit, timber (or wooden), and 
medicinal plants at different points in the district town. 

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habib Ullah Maruf inaugurated the programme at 
Rangamati Central Shaheed Minar area around 10 am today.

Deputy Director of the Rangamati Local Government Department and Municipality 
Administrator Md. Mobarak Hossain Parvez presided over the programme. 

Municipality Executive Officer Mohammad Yasin Khandaker, District BNP General 
Secretary Advocate Mamunur Rashid Mamun, Rangamati Press Club General 
Secretary Anwar Al Haque and other officials of the municipality were present 
at the event. 

DC Mohammad Habib Ullah Maruf said new projects including tree plantation 
should be taken up to make the tourist city Rangamati more attractive. Along 
with the municipality, other government and private organisations should come 
forward to beautify "Rangamati", he added. 

He said, "We all have to plant trees every year during the monsoon season to 
protect the environment. We should make everyone, including students of 
educational institutions, aware of this and encourage them to plant and take 
care of trees." 

This time, 1,000 fruit, forest and medicinal tree saplings will be planted in 
the Rangamati municipal area, said Municipality Administrator Md. Mobarak 
Hossain.
