Missing schoolboy body recovered after 40 hours in Cox's Bazar

COX'S BAZAR, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS) - The body of a schoolboy, who went missing looking for football in the Bankkhali river at Jhilonja union in Sadar upazila, was recovered this morning after 40 hours.


The body was recovered from the Bankkhali river bridge area adjacent to Banglabazar station around 8.30 am.


The deceased was Mizbah Uddin, 14, a student of class eight of Ideal School and College in Banglabazar and son of Nurul Alam, a resident of Chander Para in Jhilonja union of the upazila.


Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nilufa Yasmin said that on Thursday morning, locals saw the body of missing boy Mizbah floating near the bridge of Bankkhali River adjacent to Banglabazar Station. Later, the body was recovered.


Earlier, on Tuesday (August 26) afternoon, Mizbah Uddin went to play football with his neighbors on the banks of the Bankkhali River. At one point in the game, the football fell into the Bankkhali River. Mizbah went missing while trying to retrieve the football from the river.
