RANGPUR, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested five fugitive accused in the sensational Masudar Rahman murder case from Gazipur and Bagerhat districts today.

The arrestees are: Md Abdul Latif Mia, 65, Md Lailey Begum, 28, Md Shahidul Islam, 26, of village Najirdaho Bakultala, and Md Hakim Ali, 28, of Sadhu Kutirpara village, and Md Saiful Islam, 35, of village Najirdaho under Kawnia Police Station of Rangpur, a press release said here today.

On a tip-off, a joint team of RAB-13 and RAB-1 conducted separate raids in Chandra to Nabinagar and Chandra Flyover areas of village Hartakitla under Kaliakoir Police Station of Gazipur from 3:10 pm to 4:15 pm today and arrested four accused persons.

Later, in another operation, a joint team of RAB-13 and RAB-6 conducted a raid at the VVIP intersection area under Bagerhat Sadar Model Police Station in Bagerhat district at 10:15 pm today and arrested accused Md Saiful Islam, 35.

The arrested accused persons have been handed over to Kawnia Police Station in Rangpur for further legal action, the release said.

There had been a dispute between the victim and the accused's family over land.

Quoting the case statement, the release said that victim Masudar Rahman went to his land and saw that the accused persons were constructing a house on the said land at 5 pm on July 18, 2025.

When the victim stopped the accused persons from constructing the house, they beat him indiscriminately and hit him on the neck with a sharp knife, causing serious injuries.

Later, the victim was taken to Kawnia Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

The victim's elder brother filed a murder case with Kawnia Police Station of Rangpur on July 18, 2025.
