NOAKHALI, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) – International Literacy Day-2025 is being observed today in Noakhali district with the theme “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era.”

To mark the day, a colorful rally was brought out from the District Administration Office and paraded different streets of the town.

As part of the elaborate programme, the district administration and the Bureau of Non-Formal Education jointly organized the discussion in the District Administration Office.

District Administrator Khandker Ishtiak Ahmed attended the discussion session as the chief guest while Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Jennat Rehana presided over the meeting. District Education Officer Noor Uddin Md. Jahangir was also present on the occasion, among others.

At the discussion, speakers said literacy is an important tool for the development of human resources. Bangladesh should focus on increasing literacy rate through using ICT as it is urgent to education for building an economically advanced country, they added.

Literacy rate in remote areas is still less compared to other regions in the country meaning the government must take special measures to bring all people in hard-to-reach areas under literacy programme, the speakers added.
