RAJSHAHI, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS) - Collaborative efforts of all the government
and non-government organisations concerned and other stakeholders can be the
crucial means of preventing sexual abuse and exploitation against children.
As the present children are the future driving force of the nation
successfully, they must be protected from all sorts of exploitations,
repression and discrimination through playing sensible and responsible roles
by all quarters.
The observation came at a media dialogue to take specific steps and ways
forward to prevent sexual exploitation against children held at Hotel Warisan
in Rajshahi city today.
Association for Community Development (ACD) as part of implementation of its
'SUFASEC- Down to Zero Alliance Bangladesh (Stepping Up the Fight Against
Sexual Exploitation of Children)'project organised the dialogue supported by
the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Netherlands and Free a Girl
Netherlands.
Former Chairman of Rajshahi Education Board Prof Dipkendra Nath Das, Deputy
Director of the Department of Youth Development ATM Golam Mahbub, ACD Team
Leader Subrata Kumar Paul and Program Officer Abdul Hannan addressed the
meeting as resource persons.
The meeting was told that sexual exploitation now turns into a social
disorder and utmost emphasis should be given to combat the disorder
collectively.
Deliberations centered on the identification and rescue of children affected
by sexual abuse and exploitation, and emphasized the importance of stronger
cooperation among government agencies, the media, and civil society groups.
Discussants unequivocally called for forging social resistance against any
sorts of violence and repression against children so that they can flourish
their latent talents.
Stressing on building a child sensitive environment, the discussants called
for close collaboration and coordination among government agencies and civil
societies for ensuring safety of children.
Children will remain secure from sexual repression and harassment if the
guardians monitor them properly.
In his remarks, Prof Dipkendra Nath Das emphasized the need for coordinated
efforts to prevent child sexual abuse and to ensure justice for survivors.
He called for stronger referral systems, increased community awareness, and
timely support for survivors through rescue, rehabilitation, and
reintegration.
Taking part in the discussion, the journalists renewed their commitment to
work closely with the media, government, and community stakeholders to
strengthen efforts against the sexual exploitation of children.
