Rangamati targets over 1.54 lakh children for typhoid vaccination

RANGAMATI, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - The district administration has set a target to administer typhoid vaccines to 154,749 children under the Typhoid Vaccination Campaign 2025.

Of the total, around 86,150 students have already registered across 10 upazilas in the district. The vaccination drive will be conducted on October 12 at 1,222 centres covering 1,249 schools.

The information was disclosed at a press conference held today at the conference room of the Civil Surgeon's Office, jointly organised by the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

District Civil Surgeon Dr Nuen Khisa addressed the press conference and shared details of the campaign. Surveillance and Immunization Medical Officer Dr Joydhan Tanchangya presented a health awareness briefing on the typhoid vaccination initiative.

Also present at the event were Dr Pratik Sen of the Civil Surgeon's Office, Rangamati Press Club President Anwar Al Haque, General Secretary Muhammad Ilias, former President Sakhawat Hossain Rubel, Journalists Forum President Nandan Debnath, and journalists from local print and electronic media.

It was informed that along with school students from Class 1 to Class 9, all children aged between 9 months and 15 years will be eligible to receive the vaccine under the campaign.
