Four detained over Hathazari murder

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) - Police have detained four people in 
connection with the killing of a man in the Madhuna Ghat area of Hathazari 
upazila.

The victim, Abdul Hakim, 52, a resident of the area and owner of Hamim Agro 
cattle farm, was shot in public on Tuesday afternoon.

The arrests were made during overnight raids in different parts of Chattogram 
city and district, police said.

Kazi Tarek Aziz, Additional Superintendent of Police (Hathazari Circle), 
confirmed the detentions, saying the suspects are being interrogated to 
determine their involvement in the murder.

"No formal case has been filed yet, but the victim's family is expected to 
lodge a complaint with Hathazari Police Station later today," he added.

According to police and eyewitnesses, Hakim was shot while sitting in the 
front passenger seat of a vehicle in broad daylight. A video circulating on 
social media shows bullet marks on the car's windshield and window beside 
him.

He was taken to Evercare Hospital in Chattogram, where doctors declared him 
dead on arrival.
