Ctg Mayor emphasizes importance of mental health services

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 10, 2025 (BSS) – Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation Dr. Shahadat Hossain today emphasized the importance of mental health services, stating that neglecting mental health is no longer an option.

He stated that expanding mental health services at various levels of society and the state is crucial for building a healthy and beautiful nation.

Dr. Hossain also highlighted the need to safeguard people's mental well-being during disasters and crises, as well as to promote a culture of compassion and service throughout society.

Dr. Shahadat Hossain made these remarks as the chief guest at a discussion held at the Chattogram Zilla Parishad auditorium.

The event was organized by the Public Health Department of the University of Science and Technology Chattogram (USTC) and the Department of Narcotics Control to commemorate World Mental Health Day. 

Mohammad Shafiul Hasan presided over the function, and USTC Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Solaiman inaugurated it.

Director of the Health Department Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, Managing Trustee of Darul Irfan Research Institute Shahzada Syed Irfanul Haque, and Professor Pranoy Kumar Majumder, Head of the Public Health Department of USTC, among others, spoke at the event.
