Workshop in Jamalpur aims to boost fish production

JAMALPUR, Oct 11, 2025 (BSS) - Dr. Md. Abdur Rouf, Director General of the Fisheries Department, said on Friday that several projects have been launched with the aim of boosting fish production across the country. 

He emphasized that ensuring quality fish output from government farms is a key component of these efforts.

Speaking as the chief guest at a one-day regional workshop held at the conference room of the Rural Development Academy in Melandah Upazila, Jamalpur, Dr. Rouf noted that the Fisheries Department has organized the event under its project titled "Increasing Fish Production and Capacity Building through Infrastructure Development of Existing Government Fish Farms (First Phase)."

Dr. Md. Motaleb Hossain, Director, Fisheries Department and Ripon Kumar Paul, Deputy Director, Fisheries Department, attended the workshop as special guests. The session was presided over by Nripendra Nath Bishwas, Director of the Fisheries Department for the Mymensingh Division.

ANM Ashraful Kabir, District Fisheries Officer of Jamalpur, delivered the workshop's welcome address. Around 60 participants including fisheries officers from the Mymensingh Division, fish cultivators, faculty members from Jamalpur Science and Technology University, and local journalists took part in the event.
