RAB arrests 2 fugitive accused in Ctg rape cases

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS)- Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in separate drives, have arrested two fugitive individuals from different places in the district.

The arrested are Sumon Jaldas, 40, son of the deceased Sukumar Jaldas of Dhalghat area under Patiya upazila and Sona Mia, 48, son of Md. Yusuf Mia of Lalanagar Union of Rangunia upazila.

During a raid in Banshkhali Police Station around 6:30 pm on Wednesday, Sumon Jaldas, the main accused in the rape case of a class two student, was apprehended from Dhalghat village of Patiya upazila of the district. 

Meanwhile, on a tip-off, the RAB team also arrested Sona Mia, a fugitive accused under warrant in a rape case at Rangunia Police Station, from Lalanagar Degree College area around 9:15 pm. 

Assistant Director (Media) RAB-7 ARM Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the arrests on Thursday.

Later, the arrested individuals have been handed over to the respective police stations.
