Workshop on AI tools in digital journalism held at KU

KHULNA, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS) - A workshop on the use of artificial intelligence 
(AI) tools in digital journalism was held on Thursday at Khulna University's 
Central Research Laboratory.

The event was jointly organized by Prothom Alo and Google as part of a 
nationwide series of workshops across six public and private universities.

Dr Md Abdul Kabil Khan, Associate Professor at Daffodil International 
University, A F M Khairul Bashar, Senior Manager at Prothom Alo, among 
others, addressed the event.

Assistant Professor Md Shariful Islam of the Mass Communication and 
Journalism Discipline delivered the welcome speech while Discipline Head Sara 
Monami Hossain delivered the closing remarks.

Participants learned about five AI applications integrated with Google, 
including Gemini AI, Pinpoint, and Notebook LM. 

The workshop highlighted their use in verification, content creation, and 
data analysis within journalism.

Speakers noted that AI is adding a new dimension to modern journalism by 
enhancing speed, accuracy, and analytical depth, paving the way for a 
stronger and more credible news industry.
