JASHORE, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court today fined an ice cream factory in the city's Chowgachha Bazar Taka one lakh for producing ice cream using industrial dyes and chemicals.

A team from the Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection (DNCRP), Jashore district office, conducted the raid at 'Komola Ice Cream Factory' this afternoon.

Md Selimuzzaman, DNCRP Assistant Director, led the drive.

During the operation, the team found that the factory was illegally producing ice cream for children using unapproved industrial colours and harmful chemicals.

The factory was also marketing these products using counterfeit packaging of several well-known brands.

Consequently, factory owner Rashidul Islam was fined Taka 50,000 under Section 43 and another Taka 50,000 under Section 51 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 - totaling Taka 1 lakh, which was realized on the spot.

A team from the District Police and members of the Consumers' Association of Bangladesh (CAB) were present during the operation.
