BGB seizes liquor, smuggled goods from Sherpur border

SHERPUR, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 
have seized 439 bottles of Indian liquor, a private car, and an autorickshaw 
from the Garo hill border area in Sherpur during an anti-smuggling operation.

According to the Mymensingh Battalion-39 BGB, the seized goods are worth 
approximately Taka 5 lakh, a BGB press release said today.

Based on secret information, a patrol team from the Baromari BGB Camp 
conducted a raid in the Burunga Kalapani area of Nalitabari upazila this 
morning and seized the smuggled consignment being transported from India, 
according to the press release.

However, the smugglers managed to flee the scene before BGB personnel 
arrived.

Lt. Col. Mehedi Hasan' Commanding Officer of BGB Battalion-39, said, "BGB 
remains committed to curbing cross-border smuggling and ensuring the security 
of the Sherpur frontier."
