Two arrested with two single-barrel guns in the Sundarbans

BAGERHAT, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) - The Coast Guard has arrested Nazrul Sheikh (48), head of the notorious Ranga Bahini gang, along with two single-barrel guns and six rounds of cartridges in the Kalabogi area of the Sundarbans. 

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq told BSS that acting on secret information, a special operation was launched by the Coast Guard Base Mongla at 6 am today. The dacoits attempted to flee but were chased and captured during the operation.

Initial interrogation revealed that Nazrul Sheikh, a resident of Rampal of the district, had been involved in multiple robberies in the Sundarbans. The gang had previously sent extortion letters to Jangalbari and Bonbibi Resort on July 31, 2025. Earlier, on September 12, two members of the gang were arrested, and four fishermen held hostage were rescued. 

Legal proceedings are underway in this connection.
