Safe and nutritious food is vital for public health: experts

MAGURA, Oct 27, 2025 (BSS) - "Ensuring safe and nutritious food is vital to safeguard public health," speakers emphasized at a workshop on "Edible Oil Fortification in Bangladesh: Capacity Building and Distribution" held today at the conference room of the Magura Deputy Commissioner's office. 

Deputy Commissioner Md Ohidul Islam presided over the workshop, while Professor Dr Mohammad Shoaib, Member of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA), attended as the chief guest.

District Food Safety Officer Suman Adhikari, the Civil Surgeon of Magura, officials from various government and non-government organizations, media representatives, and members of the local shop owners' association also participated.

Speakers highlighted that edible oil fortification can play a key role in addressing nutritional deficiencies by adding essential vitamins and minerals to widely consumed food items. They also stressed the importance of raising consumer awareness and promoting packaged food products to ensure quality and protect public health.

The workshop was jointly organized by the Magura District Administration and the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA).
