NARAIL, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS) - A discussion meeting and milad mahfil were held in the district on Monday afternoon, marking the seventh death anniversary of BNP Standing Committee Member and former minister Tariqul Islam.
The event was organized jointly by Narail Sadar Upazila BNP and Nagar BNP in front of the party office at the town's main intersection.
Md. Monirul Islam, general secretary of the district BNP and former chairman of Narail Sadar Upazila Parishad, attended the program as the chief guest.
The meeting was presided over by the district town BNP president Belayet Hossain Babu, while Sadar Upazila BNP president Mustafizur Rahman Alek and general secretary Mozahidur Rahman Palash were present as special guests.
The discussion was conducted by the district BNP general secretary Khandaker Fasiar Rahman.
BNP leaders Shahriar Rizvi George, Md. Ali Hasan, Ashok Kundu, Md. Azizur Rahman, Ibadat Mina, Md. Sultan Mollah, Syed Harun-or-Rashid, Lohagara Upazila BNP president Ahaduzzaman Batu, general secretary Kazi Sultanuzzaman Selim, and District Jatiyatabadi Ulama Dal president Maulana Taiyebur Rahman were present, spoke among others.
Leaders of different BNP-affiliated organizations were also present, including Sadar Upazila Mohila Dal president Mudhumita Begum, District Sramik Dal general secretary Mushfiqur Rahman Bachchu, Jubo Dal District president Md. Moshiar Rahman and general secretary Sayadat Kabir Rubel, Chhatra Dal District president Md. Farid Bishwas, general secretary Mahmudul Hasan Sunny and leaders Mehedi Hasan Sabuj and Hamidul Islam Tonu.
Speakers at the program recalled Tariqul Islam's contributions to the country and the party.
They pledged to continue BNP's political activities in the spirit of Tariqul Islam's ideals, the philosophy of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and the democratic struggle of Begum Khaleda Zia.
Following the discussion, special prayers were offered for the eternal peace of Tariqul Islam's soul.
