Ctg mayor urges everyone to come together to make Ctg sustainable city

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain emphasized that building a green city requires active community participation, not just the efforts of the mayor or organizations. 
With citizen awareness and involvement in waste management, Chattogram has the potential to become one of the environmentally friendly cities. 

Dr. Shahadat Hossain made these remarks as the chief guest during the inauguration of the "Waste Exchange Corner" program in Goalpara, Kazi Deuri. 

The event was organised by the environmental organization 'Green Rethink' today.

The mayor praised the efforts to create a green and clean city, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in environmental initiatives. 

He noted that the organization distributed essential items to low-income individuals in exchange for recyclable materials such as plastic, aiming to engage citizens in environmental protection and waste management.

Former General Secretary of Chattogram City BNP, Abul Hashem Bakkar, attended as a special guest. Rethink Project Coordinator and Co-Founder Tasnova Shamim Ira, Co-Founder and Project Manager Farzana Mahi, Moinuddin Chowdhury (Moin), and Mohammad Mizbah Uddin, among others, were also present at the function.
