Three commercial establishments fined Tk 70,000 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS)- National Consumer Rights Protection Department in Chattogram Divisional Office in assistance with its Chattogram District Office conducted a drive and realized Taka 70,000 from three commercial establishments in Chattogram.
 
The drive, which took place today, was supported by a team from the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP). 

One of the establishments, a guest hotel in the city's Kotwali area, was fined Taka 15,000 for various violations including preparing food in 
unhygienic conditions, storing cooked stale curries with raw fish and meat in the refrigerator and using chemical dyes.

In addition, a shop on Baklia Access Road was fined Taka 5,000 for violating product sale rules while Tofazzal Hossain's Muri Mill in Rajakhali area received a fine of Taka 50,000 for storing groceries in unhygienic conditions and using industrial salt in food preparation. 

A total of Taka 70,000 was collected during the drive, led by Deputy Director Mohammad Faiz Ullah and Assistant Directors Md. Anisur Rahman, Rana Debnath, and Md. Aftabuzzaman from the three organisations.

They emphasized that the programme to protect national consumer rights will continue.
