JHALAKATHI, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS) - Seeds and chemical fertilizers have been distributed among small and marginal farmers in Sadar upazila to boost crop cultivation and production during the upcoming Rabi season.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Farhana Yasmin inaugurated the programme as the chief guest at Sadar Upazila Parishad premises around 11 am today with Upazila Agriculture Officer Ali Ahmed in the chair.

Under this incentive programme, a total of 2,155 farmers are receiving free DSP and MOP fertilizers along with specific types of seeds to cultivate mustard, sunflower, soybean, mung, lentil, khesari, peanut, wheat, and boro rice during the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Speaking as the event, UNO Farhana Yasmin said, "The agricultural incentive programme is a special initiative of the government. By providing free seeds and fertilizers, we aim to encourage farmers to increase the cultivation and production of Rabi crops. If farmers can cultivate more, our agriculture will become more prosperous and dynamic."

In his speech, Agriculture Officer Ali Ahmed said "The government regularly provides such incentives to support farmers. These seeds and fertilizers will significantly contribute to boosting the production of oilseeds, pulses, and rice. We expect farmers to make the best use of this opportunity to increase both their yield and income."

Officials from various departments of the upazila, representatives of the agricultural sector, and over a hundred farmers from different unions attended the event.
