Incentive distribution among 38,000 farmers begins in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has started disbursing incentives among small and marginal farmers in Jamalpur district during the current Robi season.

According to the DAE office, a total of 38,000 small and marginal farmers across all seven upazilas of the district are receiving support to boost the production of five major crops - wheat, mustard, peanut, winter onion and lentil.

Each farmer is being provided with seed and fertilizer free of cost for cultivating one bigha of land under any one of the selected crops. 

Under the programme, 2,000 farmers are getting incentives for wheat cultivation, 35,000 for mustard, 400 for peanut, 300 for onion and 300 for lentil.

As per the distribution plan, each farmer will receive 20 kilograms of seed, 10 kilograms of DAP and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer for wheat; one kilogram of seed, 10 kilograms of DAP and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer for mustard; 10 kilograms of seed, 10 kilograms of DAP and 5 kilograms of MOP fertilizer for peanut; one kilogram of seed, 10 kilograms of DAP and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer for onion; and 5 kilograms of seed, 10 kilograms of DAP and 5 kilograms of MOP fertilizer for lentil.

Deputy Director of DAE Mohammad Alam Sharif Khan said the government has undertaken the incentive programme to assist small and marginal farmers and increase overall food production. 

The distribution process will be completed within this week, he added.
