Campaign of KCC's cleanliness drive continues in Khulna

KHULNA, Nov 8, 2025 (BSS) - A cleanliness campaign is being carried out across different wards of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) to restore the natural environment of existing ponds and water bodies here. 

As part of the campaign, water hyacinth and waste were removed from the pond inside the city's Lions School and College premises today. 

KCC's Chief Waste Management Officer and Executive Magistrate Kohinur Jahan inaugurated the cleanliness drive as the chief guest while Members of BD Clean-Khulna actively participated in the waste removal activities.

With the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), KCC implemented the project titled "Healthy Cities: Urban Governance for Health and Wellbeing in Khulna City Corporation".

The project aims to transform Khulna into a cleaner and healthier city across the country.

SKM Tashaduzzaman, authorized officer of Ward No. 25, and KCC's Education and Cultural Officer presided over the event.

Professor Dr. Tushar Kanti Roy of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Divisional Coordinator of BELA Mahfuzur Rahman Mukul, Principal of Lions School and College Md. Badsha Khan, Project Officer Asif Ahmed were present, among others, on the occasion.

KCC authorities have urged city residents to keep their own premises clean and free from stagnant water to help curb the breeding of mosquitoes and prevent the spread of 'Dengue' and 'Chikungunya' alongside ongoing city-wide efforts.
