Cylinder explosion kills one after microbus collides with truck

TANGAIL, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - A man was killed and another injured when a microbus collided head-on with a CNG-run truck on the Tangail-Tarakandi road at Kalihati upazila of the district this morning.

The accident took place around 11.30 am in Nagarbari area when a microbus collided head-on with a CNG truck, causing a gas cylinder explosion that claimed the life of one passenger and injured another.

Firefighters from the Bhuiyanpur and Elenga Fire Service stations rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. 

"We responded quickly to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire. The CNG truck was completely burnt due to the explosion," said Md. Swapan Ali, Station Leader at Bhuiyanpur Fire Service. 

The identity of the deceased passenger has not yet been confirmed, said Kalihati Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Aminul Islam .

However, the driver of the microbus has been arrested.

The injured CNG truck driver Shanto was rushed to Tangail General Hospital for treatment.
