Man gets life imprisonment in Chandpur murder case

CHANDPUR, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a man to life-
term imprisonment for killing his partner after losing in gambling in the 
district town. 

The court also fined convict Md. Khorshed Alam, 27, Taka one lakh, in 
default, to suffer six months more in jail, said Public Prosecutor (PP) 
Advocate Kohinoor Begum.

Khorshed is the son of late Mustafa Bhuiyan, a resident of Shefali Para Jor 
Bhuiyan Bari of Kanchanpur Union under Ramganj upazila in Lakshmipur 
district.

Senior District and Sessions Judge Shamsunnahar delivered the verdict on 
Tuesday afternoon.

According to prosecution, convict Khorshed Alam killed his partner Rehan 
Uddin Miji, 55, with a country-made weapon in the New Truck Khan Road area of 
the district town on June, 2021 after losing in gambling.

Rehan's wife Parveen Begum filed a case against an unknown accused with 
Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station on June 25. 

After filing the case, the police used information technology to arrest the 
accused Khorshed Alam and handed him over to the Chandpur court on July 1. 

The judge gave this verdict in the presence of the accused after reviewing 
the testimony, case documents and the accused himself confessed to the crime.
